Basic but does exactly what we wanted with great breakfast.
The building is a bit shabby in places but the room I had featured a very comfy bed and a great shower which to be honest when away with a group of friends are the most important things.  Room cleaned each day and towels changed daily. Easy walk to either the centre or the sea.
Did the job for a great price!

Good value basic hotel

Excellent stay for a low budget hotel. Grand clean room. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. Walking distance to Galway city centre and to Salthill. Nice bar downstairs with outdoor seating. Would recommend this hotel for a budget traveller. 

One night stopover in Galway. 

The Hotel might well be excellent but having stood for a half hour in the pouring rain trying to gain access soaked to skin we sought other accommodation and it now seems we are being charged the full cost of the room  because we did not turn up. The Door to the Reception was closed against us, the property was not showing a single light and a passing local said don't bother they're closed.  
I suppose we must put this episode down as an over expensive experience for the only hotel we could find on a Galway Friday night cost more than we could really afford. 

Might well have been a good hotel had we been able to get in

The room we had needed refurbishing, but it was a comfortable stay in a good location and the bar was not bothering us. Breakfast was good (choice was continental, irish, english) and staff friendly. The location was good for exploring Galway from the center or from the coastal way.

Nice small hotel

The owner was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel was not a hotel. At best it was a bed and breakfast over a pub. The stairs were difficult, very narrow trying to manage my weekend suitcase. My room was at the top of the building. Very run down and old. The room was a good size, as was the bathroom but very old and tired. I couldn't get any food on the night of my arrival close to the hotel. The second evening I ate in a beautiful Thai restaurant. My last night I had to order food to be delivered to my hotel. The owner kindly gave me a plate and a fork to take to my room. The bar down stairs was occupied by mostly men, a man's bar. I was there for a work related event and couldn't get a booking anywhere else in the location. It was walking distance to where I needed to be, which helped. Really overpriced for what was on offer. 

Challenging and very overpriced for what it offered. 

I booked in online for one night because it was the cheapest I could get in Galway city. It’s more of a pub with accommodation than a hotel with a bar. 

It’s very old world but spotlessly clean. 

The young barmaid who was literally run off her feet eventually got a minute to check me in. She is an absolute lady, so helpful and made sure she checked me into a quiet room on the second floor. 

As I said the hotel is old, no lift and narrow staircases. 

The room was spotless, a double bed and en-suite. I slept so sound I woke up late after 10am and breakfast was over and the cook gone. Nevertheless the waitress offered to fry me an egg and make toast. Again another lovely young girl. 

I will definitely stay here the next time I am in Galway. 

The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 20 minute walk to Eyre Square in the centre of town. 

Very good if you are on a budget 

Stayed here for one night for a night out in Galway. Good location, close enough to town. Rooms very old fashioned but spotless clean, very warm and bed was super comfy. Good breakfast too. Staff are nice. The bar is lovely. Traditional Irish, warm and cosy. This is not luxury. It's a perfect place to lay your head after a night out for a very reasonable price! 

Spot on 

We checked in with the bartender, which says a lot. (the hidden hotel lobby door at the left front of the building is easily overlooked.) Our room was right above the bar; I couldn't make out patrons exact words, through the floor at night (while trying to go to sleep), but almost! The holes in one wall apparently where where a screwed-in picture had been ripped off; I later found it behind a dresser. Our room was billed as having 2 singles beds; however, the second bed was wedged into a tiny adjoining room - and neither of us wanted to sleep in it. 
   One of our friends had a back building room, but it was right over the outdoor smoking area - and a number of bar patrons opted to drink, smoke AND SING out there one night! They also opted to sleep on top of the sheets their first night.)
   Breakfast was surprisingly good, and actually offered things like french toast and pancakes.  
   Parking was free, but iffy; if you got there early enough, you could pull into a tiny back lot that had a gate on it (apparently closed at night). We ended up parked on the back street the second night, close by and without incident.  
   This may be good for the extremely budget-minded traveler - but not for most.

2 stars at best!

I have been here approximately three times in the last two years. Each time, I have been served without as much as an acknowledgment or a “thanks”- basic manners. Each time, the bar people simply do not say a word to you except to hand you the drink and take your money. This is on a weekday evening- with approx 10 others at most in the bar. Serious Deliverance vibes. On top of having the most uncharming staff in Galway the place could also do with a good clean. Not setting foot in here again. 

Never again 

We only stayed here one night. It is in a strategic position, no doubt, however, when we arrived we were given a very little attention because we were also active in the pub which was open. The room was small but average in terms of order and cleanliness. Some open tubes and a really small bathroom are the real peaks of the room. Let's say that in general it seemed to me just a little overlooked. Breakfast was the real surprise: good and varied. Attention because the hotel has a back entrance (which directs the navigator) with a parking lot and the smoking area of the pub and an incinerator (more convenient to go to the center).
