This is a shining example of exactly what I am looking for in a homestay.

Vanna and his family were extremely welcoming, friendly and fun to spend time with. We were regularly invited to meals with them to try authentic Khmer cuisine and on one evening, we ate with them at a local restaurant.  We spent some time with a couple of his friends (language teachers) who were both warm and interesting individuals.  It was fascinating to get an insight into Cambodian culture in a natural environment.

Vanna went out of his way to ensure we had a memorable stay with regular transport, a visit to the 'locals' market, organising tours to Angkor Wat and sharing his favourite sunset spot (and great for birdwatching) in the nearby fields. He can organise tours to all the main sights in the area (with more details available on his Facebook page).

We were pleased with the accommodation in a clean AC room and shared shower facilities had strong water pressure.

As the property has four rooms, we enjoyed spending time with like minded people and shared transport to the temples, the sunset and local trips, which enhanced the experience.

A really pleasant stay.



Shining example of the homestay experience

Great value for money, out of the hustle and bustle of Pub Street and all the tourists.
Srey Mao, Vanna's wife will cook up the most delicious traditional Khmer food for you and Vanna will BBQ fresh fish for you. Just ask him in the morning and you will enjoy a feast. Budget accommodation overlooking the local rice fields, nearby to the biggest local market where Srey Mao will amaze the ladies with her incredible nail art shop. (A tiny shop at Psa Leu Market). She has been commissioned by the Apsara Authority and created a design for the art works but she is way too modest to ever tell you how gifted she is. You will be delighted with Malyza and Smei their 2 children the are going to Khmer, English and Chinese school. An Australian lady sponsors them they are gorgeous children, shy at first but it doesn't take long and they will practice their languages on you.. Vanna will take you to the Sun rise and the sunset, floating village, village on sticks, silk farm and it is really worth the trip to go to the temple up in the hills in the car. Vanna and Solpath the Tuk Tuk driver will happily drop you off and pick you up from wherever you want to go. A very special Khmer family.

Unique stay with a real Khmer family.

The good thing and what makes the staying here special is that the owner and his family are extremly friend, making you feel at home right away.

The room is basic, as the hotel is, but if do not expect luxury, you will enjoy it.

Its a little far away from the city (3km) , but you can have a bicicle from the guest house and so its easy to go and back. The good thing is that you are on a more rural area, very beautiful, and that if you stay in the city you would not know it.

WiFi is excelent!

At the moment I was there, no toilet paper was offered so just remember to bring your own :-)

Very firendly owner and family! Feel at home

Of all the hundreds of places to stay in Siem Reip, I went to V homestay because of a review I read on Air BNB -The review was written by a grateful mother and it said that the owner, Vanna, helped her young daughter, who was alone and in distress in Siem Reip.
The mother said that he took care of her as if she were his own family and that she would be indebted forever. That is the exactly same treatment I received when I was there.He treated me as if I were family.  He took me to the market  (he goes daily) where I watched him negotiate all the ingredients for our dinner, which he cooked.  He also took me to his friend’s party where I met the most lovely people. That was one of the most memorable nights in Cambodia!   He gave me a private tour of the temples which was tailored to toward my pace. The Homestay is a short bike ride fro the center of town- which frankly  - I  can not imagine why anyone would want to stay there. 
V Homesaty is serene and quiet- You can have it all by partying in town then taking a quick super inexpensive taxi home. The room I stayed in was big, huge bed. - not luxurious but totally fine! There is an old fashioned shower situation, scoop the water over yourself- which I LOVE. You can take a normal shower any old day. Vanna does great work in his community and supporting him is helping to support kids in his village.

Wanna treated me like a sister

Venna is charming, smart, friendly, smiling guy and lovely host, speaks well English and soon we became friends. I told him I wanted to enjoy the authentic local experience, he took me to the local market, then to a farm in the village to buy vegetables  for dinner and let me cook it with the women of the family, and we event went to a festive dinner at a shelter for orphaned children with locals that beacame to be big party with the children! 
I took the small tour to Angkor temples, the cheapest price I found, although the driver, his brother, don't speak English.

About the place itself, authentic and simple! There is an option to sleep in dormity with mattresses on the floor with a mosquito net and fan or bed room with fan. The toilet and shower are shared outside the house and very basic. If you're spoiled and high standards, this is not the place for you. Lovely courtyard in front of the house with a hammocks to relax, WiFi works great. 
The location is not in the noisy center of town, closer to the countryside. Free bycicles are provided, 5 to 10 minutes biking and you're in the thick of things. Riding into Tonlé SAP lake took half an hour
