When I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist first told me that I had not booked a room at their house.Luckily I had a copy of the confirmation email.I was in the family and it was too late to find another hotel.When I resigned, he ended up finding me a wet, dirty room but I had no choice.We went to dinner and we waited 40 minutes before serving.The reason: the person who had taken the order was leaving without delivering the order to the server.The next morning, at breakfast, opening the powdered chocolate box, I came across a detergent and as I walked, I was told that the housekeeper had made a mistake about the box...

When incompetence and insufficiency go together...

I would like to inform you that the hotel is currently closed since 30/06/2016, for modernization work carried out by a group of Italian companies specialised in the construction of luxury hotels and a Spanish study office to monitor the works, the work is underway, the hotel will have an underground parking and a spa.

This hotel is the former Alleti. It is one of the most beautiful and oldest hotels in Algiers, dating back to the colonial era. Many political and diplomatic figures have been descending there since the 1940s until today.

Apart from its position in the centre of Algiers, with a beautiful view of the port, the hotel is a real chip market, very dirty rooms full of cockroaches with furniture dating back to the 1970s, arrogant staff, no parking,

Apart from its very good location (on the coast - taking into account the train, the N11 and the fact that it is an industrial port.., but also close to the Centre), this place has little to do with luxury and comfort but everything to do with the charm of an old (almost) unrenovated palace.

For those who love more than luxury

The hotel must have been luxurious back in the 1930s. I guess it hasn't been renovated since then. Outdated facilities, poorly equipped rooms. No noise or air-tight windows. Breakfast has no variety. Don't make the mistake of eating or dining here; service is extremely slow and prices are abusive. Tip: stay in any other hotel.

The only good thing is its location.

Historic hotel in the center of Algiers, except for its location, can't be considered anything else, It has a few early twentieth-century elevators, insufficient and constantly damaged or some customer leaves a door open and no longer usable.The rooms are decorated with the same furniture as their inauguration, you can imagine that they are very old and with brush-painted hands, the bathrooms without curtains with which it is inevitable to flood the floor when you are showering, the doors in good condition and the WiFi connection quite poor that make it an unusable hotel for business trips.

Stayed here for 3 nights in total in different 4th and 5th floor rooms. The hotel is large and in need of a refurbishment . Overall it wasn't too bad. Rooms were spacious, pretty clean, lots of hot water though the poor water pressure made showering in the 1st room tricky. The rooms vary in what works eg my 1st room had very poor aircon, a dodgy shower and a broken tv but the fridge did have complimentary water and juice. My 2nd room had a working tv with an English language movie channel, good aircon and shower but no water or juice. Towels and linen were fine, spare pillows and blankets in the wardrobe, shampoo and soap and free wi-fi in room. The beds were on the hard side. Once the other guests stopped shouting in the corridors it was surprisingly quiet. The lift is picturesque but unreliable. Breakfast was an average Algerian affair, neither the best nor worst. The hotel is well located, there are restaurants and a grocery shop nearby.

Needs updating

For the price you pay you get away less than you expect except for the location and proximity to downtown. This hotel is an ancient building that requires modernization to keep up with the international standard for the price yoy pay.

Poor and cheap service

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning and end of a two week tour taken of Northeastern Algeria.  As mentioned by other people is dated, but still has some charm.  The renovated room on the fifth floor were very good.  In contrast, the rooms on the second floor were run down and somewhat dirty and run down
